Bone broth in other kitchens

Bone broth turns up in surprisingly different places. For some people it’s the first cup of the morning. For others it goes into the pot with lamb and vegetables. Here’s how five people talk about making it, drinking it and cooking with it.

The first cup of the day

  • Kylie Jenner

In Harper's BAZAAR Food Diaries in February 2020, Kylie Jenner described broth with lavender and lemon as one morning choice, with celery juice as an alternative.

  • Shailene Woodley

Woodley told David Letterman she drank broth at breakfast and liked the idea of using more of the animal. In Bon Appétit, she also described making meat stew with her own broth.

Like a cup of tea

  • Gwyneth Paltrow

On Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Paltrow says she likes to have broth in the afternoon, the way she’d have a cup of tea.

Back at the stove

  • Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth's Centr lamb-and-vegetable soup includes bone broth, alongside onion, garlic and leeks.

  • Salma Hayek

In her July 2015 Extra interview, Salma Hayek said she makes her own bone broth.

Warm a cup at home

Spoon cold broth into a small saucepan and warm it gently. As it melts, taste it and decide whether you’d like a splash of hot water. For a brighter cup, finish it with a squeeze of lemon.
