Regenerative marrow balm
Five ingredients. Not one afterthought.
Skin care
I wanted a rich balm that would soften under a fingertip. I start with pure marrow fat, purify it separately and infuse it with myrrh resin before blending.
Why marrow, and why this particular balm?
I start with fat rendered from beef marrow and purify it separately for the balm. I infuse it with myrrh while it’s still on its own, before I add the other ingredients.
The myrrh resin came to me through Nepal, from Buddhist offerings. It may be the last ingredient by weight, but it’s one of the first I work with.
Organic beeswax gives the balm enough structure to sit in the jar. I use organic lanolin for the soft feel and dark Portuguese heather-and-chestnut honey for its particular character. A little of the finished balm goes a long way.
How to use
Warm a small dab between your fingertips and smooth it over your lips, face or a dry patch of skin. Start with a little and add more where you want it.
